Tools needed: 10mm allen wrench, 19mm short socket, 13mm deep well socket, 3/8” ratchet and extension. Anti-seize. A pair of needle nose pliers helps, but not necessary. A second pair of hands will also be helpful.
Please read and understand all instructions before beginning.
1. Locate 4 Push Rod Tubes on right side of motor. The outer tubes will be the only things slid out of the way. Do Not remove push rods.
2. Push down on Push Rod Cap by hand (94-000) to release Retainer (94-008). Once Retainer is gone Upper Push Rod Cover tube will slide down out of the way. This will provide the needed clearance to install the JDC Adaptors. This is where a second set of hands and needle nose pliers comes in handy. Repeat on all 4 Push Rod Tubes.
3. Remove the 2 Allen plugs in the sides of the cylinder heads. 10mm Allen.
4. Apply a small amount of anti-seize (supplied) to the threads of the adaptor and install into head. Make sure the compression washer is in place!! 19mm Short socket. Repeat on second head.
5. Apply a small amount of anti-seize (supplied) to the threads of Compression Release Valves and install into adaptors. Make sure the compression washer is in place!! 13mm deep socket. Repeat on second head.
6. Raise the upper Push Rod Cover Tube into correct position. Make sure o-rings and tubes are aligned.
7. Re-install Retainer (94-008) by pushing down on Push Rod Cap by hand (94-000) and setting Retainer back into place. Release Cap to lock Retainer. This is where a second set of hands and needle nose pliers come in handy. Repeat on all 4 Push Rod Tubes.
Press your Compression Release Valves and light the fires knowing your battery and starter will live a lot longer.
